Top Skin Care Tips for Spring – A Guest Post by Amy Mia Goldsmith

Spring is here, so it’s high time to start changing our beauty routines and adjusting them to the warmer weather and increased sun exposure. Warm weather can cause your skin to become oilier and if you are still using those heavy protection creams from the winter months it can be quite damaging for your skin.

This article gives you tips on the skin care regimen which is essential for the upcoming spring months. It is time to shed the winter layers and to find out how you can keep your skin healthy and glowing throughout this season.

1. Protect Your Skin from the Sun

Using SPF every day offers protection against UV rays, which are known to cause premature ageing and pigmentation damage. Of course this is not just spring skin care tip, you should do this all year round to ensure the best possible skin protection. It is important to keep in mind that without those winter layers of clothing it is not only your face that needs protection. In addition to using SPF cream on your face you should also use it on all the parts of your body that will be exposed as the warmer weather comes.

2. Exfoliate

Performing weekly exfoliation removes dry skin cells and allows other skin products that you use to penetrate your skin layers more efficiently thus increasing their effect. When choosing the right exfoliating product, it is always a good option to go for organic cosmetics, especially natural skin masks. This way you can be certain that there are no damaging chemicals penetrating your skin and causing prolonged redness and skin irritation.

3. Pay Attention to Your Feet

It is time to get rid of boots and warm socks and to prepare our feet for open-toe shoes and sandals. During winter months our foot care regimen tends to drop a notch. So before our feet are ready for public viewing it is important to remove the excess skin, provide them with a good peeling and start using soothing creams on the daily basis. The best options are foot creams that apart from skin nourishing ingredients also contain Panthenol, so that your feet can relax after a hard day’s walk.

4. Bump Up Your Vitamins

There are four major vitamins that help keep your skin healthy and glowing. If you want to help your skin recuperate after the dry winter months you should supplement your diet with vitamins D, C, E and K. Vitamin C aids in skin care due to its antioxidant properties and its contribution to collagen synthesis while vitamin E’s main function is protection against sun damage. Creams that contain vitamin K can help in treatment of unsightly skin irritations, like stretch marks, scars or dark circles under the eyes, while vitamin D has been found to help in psoriasis treatment.

5. Drink Water

Hydration, hydration, hydration! Nothing is as important for healthy skin as regular water intake. We often tend to forget that two liters daily minimum, or we just drink water when we are thirsty and by then our skin already starts to dry up. Keeping hydrated is especially important as the warm months come and we start feeling the heat. Our body is 60% water and if we are not hydrated our skin tends to get dryer, wrinkly and even prone to breakage.

By following theses five easy tips you can rest assured that your skin will be ready for spring, healthy glowing and hydrated. All that left is to put on some brightly colored clothes and start soaking up the beautiful spring sun. In the words of the great Linden Tayler: ‘Invest in your skin. It is going to represent you for a very long time.’
